Maya Ward — A Neighbour Who Gets Things Done

Maya Ward has spent the last decade working at the intersection of community organizing and civic technology. Born and raised in Ward 1, she has led local housing advocacy initiatives, served on the neighbourhood planning committee, and helped dozens of families navigate city services. Maya believes that good governance is built on listening — and that data and transparency are tools for community empowerment, not bureaucratic efficiency. She is running for Ward 1 Councillor because she believes every resident deserves a representative who shows up, follows through, and delivers results.

Every door I knock, every conversation I have — that is not campaign strategy. That is democracy.

Maya has volunteered with Guelph Community Legal Clinic, served as chair of the Ward 1 Neighbourhood Association, and organized three consecutive community clean-up days. She holds a degree in Urban Planning from the University of Guelph and has worked with the City on two major transit corridor studies.
